For the eighth time, the Kansas Jayhawks begin the 2007-08 atop the Big 12 coaches poll. Led by four returning starters, KU's returning players accounted for nearly 85% of the team's scoring last season.
Kansas State fourth-place finish is the highest preseason in the conference's history.
Sandwiched between the two Sunflower State schools were Texas and Texas A&M, which received the remaining two first-place votes. Missouri and Oklahoma tied for fifth.
The Big 12's second division begins with Oklahoma State, just a point ahead of Texas Tech. Baylor, Nebraska, Iowa State, and Colorado rounded out the field.
