HORNET VOLLEYBALL TEAM REGIONALLY RANKED

EMPORIA, KAN. (October 10, 2007)--The #21 Emporia State volleyball team is ranked fifth in the first official NCAA Division II South Central Regional Poll of the 2007 season. Automatic qualifiers from the MIAA, Gulf South Conference and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will make the NCAA Tournament along with the five highest remaining teams ranked in the regional poll. There is currently no SIAC team in the top ten regionally.
The Hornets are 19-6 on the season with all six losses against teams that are currently ranked in their region. ESU still has matches with the top two teams in the region, Washburn on Oct. 30 in Emporia and Truman on Nov. 2 in Kirksville, Mo.
The next action for ESU is on Oct. 16 at home against Newman. First serve from White Auditorium is set for 7 p.m. It is the first of only three remaining regular season home matches for the Hornets.
