KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ The Chiefs are keeping their fingers
crossed. Quarterback Damon Huard is awaiting test results on his
bruised shoulder that will determine if he can play this week
against Cincinnati. If Huard can't go, backup Brodie Croyle will
start against the Bengals.
Huard was hurt late in the fourth quarter of yesterday's 17-7
loss to Jacksonville.
Croyle replaced Huard and directed a last-minute scoring drive.
He completed a 13-yard touchdown pass on the final play from
scrimmage that enabled the Chiefs to avoid their first shutout at
home since 1994.
The 24-year-old Croyle, who is 10 years younger than Huard,
appeared ready to take over as the Chiefs starter until he
performed poorly during the preseason.
