KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Molly Sinclair (Truman) and Ting Liu (Emporia State) have been named MIAA Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 3-4 as selected by a conference SID panel.
MIAA VOLLEYBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK
Molly Sinclair, OH, Truman
Sinclair averaged 3.73 kills per set and 2.60 digs per set as Truman opened the 2010 season as just one of three MIAA teams to go 4-0. The junior from St. Louis, Mo., was named to the all-tournament team. In a five-set win at No. 4 Indianapolis, she totaled 17 kills and 12 digs – both season-highs to this point – and added a block assist for 18.5 total points. Sinclair led the Bulldogs offensively as the only player with more than three kills per set. She added five service aces, including two in each of Truman’s first two matches. She was Truman’s kill-leader in all four matches, going 13-13-13-17. Sinclair recorded her fourth and fifth career kill/dig double-doubles with a 13/11 effort against Nova-Southeastern and a 17/12 effort against No. 4 Indianapolis. She averaged nearly 4.25 points per set at the University of Indianapolis Classic. Sinclair becomes Truman’s first hitter of the week since Melissa Keck earned the honor on Oct. 20, 2008, and is the first Bulldog outside hitter to be honored since Nov. 6, 2006, when Sarah Shearman won the award.
