SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod golf team fell from second to
third in the final round of the Pasta House/Drury Invitational as
Central Missouri took team championship honors followed by the host
squad Panthers. The Ichabods will wrap up the fall slate at the Fort
Hays State Invitational next week, the second of two MIAA point
tournaments for the fall.
Playing as a medalist, Sam Wempe recorded the best two-day score for the
Ichabods as he finished in a tie for fourth place overall. Wempe was
shot a 3-over 75 in the second round to finish even 144 for the tournament.
John Robbins finished in a tie for sixth place after recording a 2-under
70 in the second round for finish 1-over for the tournament. Matt Salome
finished in a tie for eighth with a 2-over 146 for the tournament.
Matt Ewald improved four shots over his first-round 76 to an even par 72
for a 4-over 148 for a 15th place finish. Matt Lazzo fell into a tie for
15th after shooting an 80 in the second round to finish with a 4-over
148. Ryan Deutsch finished in a tie for 39th with a 154 total score
after carding a 6-over 78.
Dustin Yeager finished in a tie for 14th after shooting a 1-over 73 in
the second round and a 3-over 147 overall.
Washburn will look to win its seventh straight MIAA points tournament
next weekend in Hays after winning the first tournament of the season
two weeks ago at Truman and all six point tournament events during the
