October 2, 2007 -- The #23 Hornet volleyball team earned 3-0 win over Southwest Baptist in an MIAA match on Tuesday. The Hornets hit .306 for the match, marking the seventh time this season ESU has hit above .300 for the match, on their way to a 30-19, 30-23, 30-23 win. The Hornets as a team a 73 digs, second most on the season for a three match win.
For the Hornets balanced attack both Megan Koster and Arica Shepard earned double-doubles as Koster had 14 kills with 13 digs and Shepard had 14 kills with 12 digs. Mary Walczuk hit .440 for the match and had 12 kills and was joined by Brianne Boner in double figures as Boner had 11 kilss to go along with four blocks. Ting Liu had match high 51 assists and also had three kills. Amy Byfield had 28 digs to round out the night for the Hornets. Kelsey Stewart paced Bearcats with eight kills as ESU held them to only .135 hitting on the night.
The Hornets will next travel to Topeka for the Lady Blues Fall Classic where they will take on Dallas Baptist and #17 West Texas A & M on Friday, Oct. 5. First serve for those matches is 10 a.m. against Dallas Baptist and 4 p.m. against #17 West Texas A & M.
