AMES, Iowa (AP) _ Iowa State coach Gene Chizik says he's
encouraged with his team's improvements, but not with their record.
Iowa State fell to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12 after a
37-17 loss at 25th-ranked Nebraska on Saturday.
The Cyclones ran a school-record 102 plays from scrimmage and
held a 20-minute possession advantage, but Nebraska still came away
with the win.
Iowa State is at Texas Tech this Saturday.
Chizik says running back J.J. Bass's status against the Red
Raiders is day-to-day. He missed the Nebraska game with a shoulder
injury.
Texas Tech is 4-1 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12. Tech is coming
off a 75-7 win over Northwestern State, which plays in the
Championship Subdivision (former 1-AA).
