Royals Close 2007 Season with Weekend Home Series

Team Hosts Division Leading Cleveland Indians for Fan Appreciation Weekend

KANSAS CITY, MO (Sept. 26, 2007) – The Kansas City Royals wrap up the 2007 season at home with a three-game weekend series against the Cleveland Indians and a celebration to thank the fans. Fan Appreciation Weekend opens Friday, Sept. 28 with Royals Futures Night, which features the 16 Royals minor league award winners in an autograph session and pre-game award ceremony. On Saturday, Sept. 29, fans will receive their first looks at the 2008 schedule as well as the opportunity to win several outstanding prizes during the game. The season ends with a Sunday afternoon Kauffman Stadium tradition: the Sprint Wireless Fun Run!

Kauffman Stadium LIVE Hot Dog Derby Fan Races: The nine Grand Prize “Wieners” have been selected and will compete in LIVE Hot Dog Derby races that will take place each game of the series. This past month, fans registered online at for a chance to be named a “Grand Prize Wiener.” Each winner not only gets the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to run the LIVE Hot Dog Derby, but also receives four complimentary Dugout Box tickets, free hot dogs and a set of Kauffman Stadium Hot Dog Derby Plush Racers.

Friday, Sept. 28 – Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.
§ Dodge Buck Night: Always a Kauffman Stadium favorite, fans can get hot dogs, peanuts and small Pepsis for $1 each all game long!
§ Hy-Vee/Pepsi Fireworks Friday: Fans enjoy a post-game fireworks show, courtesy of Hy-Vee and Pepsi.
§ Bob Evans Friends and Family Night: One of the best deals in town – fans can get four Outfield Plaza tickets, four hot dogs, four Pepsis, a bag of peanuts or popcorn and a Royals GameDay magazine for just $40!
§ Royals Futures Night Autograph Session and Q&A: The Royals honor their 2007 minor league stars at Royals Futures Night. From 5:15 to 6 p.m., the 16 minor league award winners will participate in a special autograph session at Gate B across from the playground. It will be followed by a Q&A session hosted by Toby Cook, Royals Vice President of Community Affairs and Publicity. Minor leaguers Rowdy Hardy, Mike Aviles and Mike Stodolka as well as current Royals pitcher Billy Buckner and the other affiliate Minor League Players and Pitchers of the Year will be signing autographs. In addition, Royals 2007 First-Year Player Draft selection Mike Moustakas will also participate in the autograph session. The minor league award winners will receive their awards during pre-game ceremonies.
§ Royals Charities Coat Drive: Royals Charities host the fourth annual Royals Charities Coat Drive from 5:30-7:30 p.m., prior to the Royals-Indians game at Kauffman Stadium. Royals Wives will be collecting at Gate B, while the Royals Charities volunteers will be collecting coats at Gates A, C and D. The groups will accept both new and gently used coats of all sizes to benefit the Johnson County Christmas Bureau.

Saturday, Sept. 29 – Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 6:10 p.m.
§ Team Photo Card: All fans entering Kauffman Stadium for Fan Appreciation Night will receive a Team Photo Card with the 2008 preliminary home schedule on the back.
§ Fan Appreciation Night: The Royals say THANK YOU to fans with the end-of-the season Fan Appreciation Night at Kauffman Stadium. Throughout the Royals-Indians game, fans will have the chance to win several prizes including a $250 Dick’s Sporting Goods Shopping Spree, two Midwest Airlines Trip Giveaways for Two, two $250 Hy-Vee Shopping Sprees, $250 Planet Sub Gift Certificates, Aquafina Bottled Water for a year from Pepsi, a Budweiser Neon Bar Light, a John Deere Weedwacker, autographed items and more.

§ Sween Team at Kauffman Stadium: Mike Sweeney hosts youth from four different area organizations, who will be located in the Sween Team area in the right field seats.
§ Frank White Named Grand Marshal of American Royal Parade: The Royals Hall of Fame second baseman serves as the grand marshal of the American Royal Parade, which carries a “Show ‘Em Your Royal” theme and kicks off the American Royal celebration in Kansas City. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and is the first event for this year’s American Royal, which also includes the World Series of Barbecue, concerts, rodeo events and horse shows.

Sunday, Sept. 30 – Cleveland Indians vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.
§ Bob Evans Friends and Family Day: It’s one of the best deals in baseball! Fans can get four Outfield Plaza tickets, four hot dogs, four Pepsis, a bag of peanuts or popcorn and a Royals GameDay Magazine for just $40.
§ Sprint Wireless Fun Run: Fans of all ages can head to the field following the Royals Sunday game against Cleveland for one last run around the bases in the Sprint Wireless Fun Run.
§ Sweeney Hosts Military Families to Kauffman Stadium: Five-Time All-Star Mike Sweeney will purchase up to 500 tickets for military members and their families as the Royals take on the Indians in the final game of the regular season. Current or retired members of the military, as well as family members of the military may receive complimentary Outfield Plaza tickets. Up to 500 tickets will be distributed on the day of the game on a first-come, first-served basis at the designated Military Ticket Window located on the home plate side of Kauffman Stadium. The window will open 90 minutes prior to game time. Individuals must possess a valid military photo ID. Tickets will be limited to the individual and up to three family members.

Royals All-You-Can-Eat Seats: The Royals continue their All-You-Can-Eat Seats section in the final homestand of the season on Friday and Saturday. The section is sold out for both games, but check this offseason for information about the availability of the seats in 2008.
