East Coast Blizzard Strands NE Kansans

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Record snowfall spanning much of the Northeast might make it tricky for Kansans going to the Pinstripe Bowl. It's made travel nearly impossible for people getting home from their holidays, too.

A plane landed at JFK Monday night, a sign that things are starting to look up. But although runways are clearing, officials say it will be days before backed up passengers reach their destinations.

Feet of snow in the Northeast have caused thousands of flight cancellations across the US, and kept some northeast Kansans stranded.

Travel experts say headaches like these happen. AAA officials say all the travel packages for the Pinstripe Bowl are sold, so they're crossing their fingers for no more snow.

If your flight's been canceled, experts say deal directly with the airline, workers will do whatever it takes to get you in the air, and out of their hair. Many will even waive re-booking fees.

We've posted some helpful information for Pinstripe Bowl travelers at wibw.com/pinstripebowl.
