Starting Fresh In 2008
Posted: January 2, 2008

Hello Bloggers!

The New Year always brings with it new opportunities and a feeling that you can leave last year behind and move on!  2007 was a wonderful year full of firsts for me.  I made the transition from student to young professional, moved into my first apartment, became independent on my tax forms, and finally I am feeling like I have it all under control!

Now I'm looking foward to 2008.  I love the opportunity of a year unwritten.  I have started my resolutions and you might find that they are pretty typical.  I'll share them just for fun but then will you share yours too?

1.) Get organized - I haven't set up my office at home yet and I really need to go through all of those old papers!  I plan to do it this weekend.

2.) Read- I love to read and I'm tired of feeling like I'm too busy.  So, I've started to set time aside in the morning before work and before I go to bed.  I love to read Newsweek and InStyle and I'm currently seeking out a few new biographies.

3.) Schedule- As much as I try I have a hard time sticking to schedules whether it be cleaning on a certain day or planning ahead for a specific event.  I plan to do that and to help I purchased a state of the art planner so now I have no excuses!

4.) Relax- I tend to get anxious if things aren't just perfect.  I like my desk to be neat and my home to be perfectly clean and organized.  I get that from my mom's side.  Anyway, I'm going to try to chill out a little without going crazy.

5.) Keep In Touch - Now that I am settled I want to visit my friends from school more often and do a better job of staying in touch.   One of my best friends lives in Canada now and I would love to go visit.  Another is expecting a baby in about a month and another just got married.  Their lives are so exciting and I don't want to miss a thing!  My childhood best friend, Ashley, just moved back to Kansas City and I can't wait to go and spend time with her.

Have a Fantastic 2008 and I hope you accomplish every resolution on your list!

Here are tips that might help: always keep reading material with you...I have reading material in almost every room and used to in the car...waiting in an office, etc. goes much faster; use a 'flexible schedule' one that can be changed if need be but with it you won't feel so perturbed because you didn't get something done; keep your place neat and picked up, most things have a place---keep them there every night before going to bed...it is a lot easier than getting up to a mess....people will not notice dust as much as clutter...you will find that you will be able to relax more and thus..enjoy life more!!! Enjoy 2008! I raised kids in unmodern homes until the late 60's and life was always changing so this all worked for me. Life is great....from the 'grandma' who writes on these blogs so much!

Reply: Thank you so much for those tips! I printed them off to keep with me as a reminder! You are the best and we love that you post so much! Have a great 2008 yourself!
