WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts says the Senate passed the 2010 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill Thursday, which includes more than $1.8 million for some important Kansas projects.

“The Interior bill contains almost two million dollars for improvements critical to many Kansas communities,” Senator Roberts said. “These local projects will make significant investments in infrastructure throughout Kansas.”

Senators Roberts and Brownback worked together to secure the following projects:
• Manhattan - sewer mainline extension project -$185,000
• Manhattan - Konza Water Main Extension project-$290,000
• Junction City - construction of a drinking water project -$250,000
• Colonial Fox Theater, Pittsburg - restoration projects -$500,000
• Prescott - wastewater treatment plant construction project -$170,800
• Wichita - storm water technology pilot project -$129,200

Senator Roberts personally worked to secure the following project:
• Iola - drinking water and wastewater pipe improvements project -$300,000

The bill must now go to a conference committee to resolve differences in the House of Representatives and Senate versions of the bill, before the final version heads to the White House.
