"On the Mark"

I’ll soon be leaving WIBW; which makes this my last “On the Mark”. I’m heading to Wichita where next Monday I will start my new job as the local programming manager for Cox Communications.
Before I go, I want to thank a number of people...
starting with our great athletes. interviewing you has been the best part of my job. It's been a blast.
Thank you for letting me tell your story.
I want to thank the coaches.
from Bill Snyder to Roy Williams to the great cast of current coaches.
Thanks for giving me your time.
and, that includes a long list of awesome prep coaches who serve as talented mentors for our young people.
I want to thank the athletic directors, and sports information personnel who have never complained about calls after hours and have treated me with courtesy regardless of the subject matter.
and...
it is not an overstatement, when I say there is no harder working television station in the country than WIBW-TV.
In between the overwelming list of tasks we take on every day --- I’ll bet everyone who works in this building contributed to the sports efforts in some manner. which brings me to you folks out there.
other stations have tinkered with the idea of getting rid or, or reducing the efforts of their sports departments.
You've saved my job by always letting it be known that not only did you expect coverage, but a high degree of it.
In that regard, I've always demanded that we provide a little something for everybody in a fair, objective and professional manner.
that’s what the likes of Dev, Max, Fred, and many others did before me.
and, the tradition that brought me here in the first place.
Together we have shared local sports since before the turn of the century, the championships and the disappointments. --- and I’m hopeful I’ve lived up to your expectations during "my watch" over the past decade. To you … I say… thanks for watching. That’s the final… “On the Mark”.

[[That doesn't mean you can't tell me what you think. there will still be a few ways to let me know... even though these segments will no longer air monday nights at ten.]

Mark... Thank You for all that you have done for us in NE Kansas. It was also a pleasure to meet you one day at a K-State Football game and give me some pointers on how to get into the field. Thanks again! Good luck in Wichita, it is a fine community.
