(CNN) -- After a day of rampant speculation from sources who were sure they knew what they were talking about, Tiger Woods' agent told CNN Thursday that the troubled golfer had not decided when he would return to the links.

"No decisions have been made yet," said Mark Steinberg.

Woods, 34, stepped away from the tour late last year after crashing his black Cadillac Escalade into a fire hydrant and then a tree near his home outside Orlando, Florida.

The early-morning crash set off a barrage of infidelity allegations against the golfer, who is married to Elin Nordegren. The couple has two children.

Last month, Woods apologized in a tightly-controlled televised statement for his "irresponsible and selfish" behavior, which he said included infidelity.

He left open the possibility of a return to golf later this year, but said that questions about whether he and his wife will remain together are between a husband and a wife, emphasizing the privacy that he became known for long before November.

"As Elin pointed out to me, my real apology to her will not come in the form of words, it will come from my behavior over time," he said then. "We have a lot to discuss. However, what we say to each other will remain between the two of us."

Woods lost some of his sponsors in the aftermath, but others, including Nike, stuck by him.

On Thursday, the New York Post quoted sources from "the golf community" that Woods would make his return to golf on March 25 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in Orlando. Palmer, the paper said, had even "reportedly" confirmed Woods' appearance.

But Mark O'Meara, a neighbor and long-time friend of the golfer, told the paper he "wouldn't be surprised" if Woods appeared at exhibition matches scheduled for March 22-23 at Isleworth, Woods' home course.

And later, the Associated Press cited "two people with knowledge of his plans" who said Woods would not return until the Masters in Augusta, Georgia, which begins with practice rounds on April 6 and ends with the tournament from April 9-12.

Woods has worn the Masters' famed green jacket four times, most recently in 2005 and including back-to-back wins in 2001 and 2002. Woods' four victories ties him with Palmer behind Jack Nicklaus, who at six has the most Masters wins of any golfer.
