From Arizona to Washington State, authorities are asking people to stay home as a potent Pacific storm makes its way east.
In Reno, Nevada, schools and government offices were closed Monday.
The National Weather Service predicts the Sierra Mountains could get up to 3 feet of snow. The mountains of southern Utah could get up to 4 feet.
Folks in Southern California are getting rain, which is usually cause for celebration. However, when rain soaks fire-ravaged mountainsides, it creates the perfect condition for massive mudslides.
Residents of La Crescenta, California are right in the path of danger. They’ve lined their streets with sandbags and barricades, and police are poised to evacuate them if necessary.
Two more monster storms are still churning away in the Pacific, creating conditions Hawaii has not seen since 1969. Surfers and spectators crowded the north and west beaches before dawn, watching for waves to reach heights of 30 to 50 feet.
