(CNN) -- Late-morning news and information to know.
Washington-Police-Shooting
It turns out the suspect was not where they thought he was. Seattle police surrounded a house for several hours, believing the suspect in yesterday's fatal shootings of four police officers near Tacoma was holed up there. But they stormed the house, and he wasn't there.
SPORTS-Tennis-Serena-Williams
Tennis star Serena Williams is getting hit with a record fine and two years of probation for her on-court outburst at the U.S. Open. She's been fined 175-thousand dollars that will be reduced to 82,500 dollars if she stays on good behavior for the next two years.
DC-Chelsea-Engaged
A spokesman for former President Bill Clinton says 29-year-old Chelsea Clinton is engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Marc Mezvinsky. The wedding is planned for next summer.
Hurricane-Season-Ends
Today's the last day of the official hurricane season. Forecasters didn't do too well in predicting storms this season. Colorado State University forecasters William Gray and Philip Klotzback last year predicted that in 2009, we'd see 14 named Atlantic storms and 7 hurricanes. We ended up with 9 named storms and just 3 hurricanes. Weather Services Inc. and Accuweather overestimated the number of storms as well.
