MIAA Football Moves Into Week Eight

Kansas City, Mo. -- Just four unbeaten teams remain as week eight features a second match-up between top 15 teams.

Nebraska-Kearney at Southwest Baptist
After picking up their second win of the season Nebraska-Kearney will hit the road for Southwest Baptist in week eight. For the Lopers Romero Cotton is averaging 59 yards per game on the ground with two touchdowns. Luke McNitt has four rushing touchdowns and Tyler McKeone has two scores on the ground. Defensively Kellen Werner has a team best 70 tackles and Tyke Kozeal and Damien Wilson each have two interceptions. For the Bearcats in his first start Joey Dominiguez was 19 of 33 for 215 yards and a touchdown through the air. Derwyn Lauderdale has 48 catches for 702 yards and five touchdowns on the season. On defense Shaquille Shedd leads the team with 53 tackles and Johnathan Durry had a team best six tackles for a loss.

Lindenwood at #10 Washburn
#10 Washburn will look to stay unbeaten as they welcome Lindenwood in week number eight. The Ichabod offense is led by Mitch Buhler who is averaging 256 yards per game through the air with 16 touchdowns. On the ground Vershon Moore has found the end zone seven times while Cody Heiman has five scores. Bryce Atagi is leading the defense with 56 tackles, 6.5 of which are for a loss, and four interceptions. For the Lions Dillon Miller is averaging 266 yards per game through the air with 11 touchdowns. Alex Robinson has hauled in five touchdown catches and Marvin Byrd has five scores on the ground. On defense Clint Koons has 48 total tackles and Pierre Desir has a team leading four interceptions.

Northeastern State at Central Missouri
Central Missouri is looking to battle back to .500 as they face Northeastern State at home this weekend. The Mules are led by MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week Hayden Hawk who is averaging 309 yards per game passing with 19 touchdowns. Ronrei Lloyd had 50 catches averaging 127 yards per game receiving with eight scores. On defense Ricky Spratley has 67 tackles including a team best six for a loss and two fumble recoveries. For the RiverHawks Thor Long is averaging 138 yards per game passing with three touchdowns. Terrance Dixon is averaging 55 yards per game on the ground with six total scores. On defense Langston Jones has 97 tackles and Kyler Harris leads the team with two interceptions while Dakota Moran has two sacks.

#12 Pittsburg State at #4 Missouri Western
#4 Missouri Western will look to stay unbeaten as they welcome #12 Pittsburg State who is looking to rebound from their first loss. The Griffons are led by Travis Partridge who is averaging 200 yards passing with 14 touchdowns and has added eight scores on the ground. Raphael Spencer is averaging 124 yards per game rushing with nine touchdowns and Stephon Weaver has hauled in five touchdown passes. On defense Stephen Juergens has 56 tackles and Nick Williams leads the team with three fumble recoveries. For the Gorillas Anthony Abenoja leads the way averaging 265 yards through the air with 21 total touchdowns. John Brown is averaging 110 yards receiving with nine scores and Jeff Seybold has 12 rushing touchdowns. On defense Nate Dreiling has 64 tackles and Tyler Disney has one pick and three fumble recoveries.

Missouri Southern at #2 Northwest Missouri
#2 Northwest Missouri will look to remain unbeaten as they welcome 5-2 Missouri Southern to town. For the Bearcats Trevor Adams has 11 touchdowns through the air while Brady Bolles has six touchdowns in the air and five on the ground. Clint Utter has five touchdown catches and Billy Creason leads the team with seven scores on the ground. On defense Eric Reimer has 54 tackles, 9.5 of which are for a loss, and a team best 4.5 sacks. For the Lions Chris Barnwell leads the ground attack averaging 96 yards per game with six touchdowns. Jay McDowell is averaging 94 yards rushing and 111 passing with 10 total touchdowns. On defense Gatlin Ridgeway has 63 tackles and is tied for the team lead with Paco Varol as each have 3.5 sacks.

Fort Hays State at Lincoln
Fort Hays State takes a three game winning streak into the MIAA Television Game of the Week on the road at Lincoln. For the Tigers Treveon Albert is averaging 161 yards per game passing with 10 touchdowns and has added four on the ground. Edward Smith has six rushing touchdowns and Keaton Callins has hauled in five scores through the air. On defense MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week Michael Terry has 40 tackles and two fumble recoveries. For the Blue Tigers Morris Henderson is averaging 96 yards per game on the ground with seven touchdowns. Jacob Morris is averaging 218 yards passing with eight total scores. On defense Kendrick Causey has 78 tackles while Brian Smith and Tevin Brock each have two fumble recoveries.

Bye: #17 Emporia State
Emporia State will take a week off in week number eight after pushing their record to 7-0 on the season. Brent Wilson is leading the way for the Hornets averaging 333 yards per game passing with 27 touchdowns and has 30 total touchdowns adding three on the ground. On the ground Antonio Brown has nine touchdowns and Dozie Iwuagwa has added three scores. On the receiving end Austin Willis is averaging 122 yards per game with nine touchdowns and Ray Ray Davis is averaging 108 yards and 12 scores. On defense Jordan Sanders has 44 tackles and Chris Poston has hauled down three interceptions.

Bye: Central Oklahoma
Central Oklahoma will take a break as they look to pick up their first victory of the season. Joshua Birmingham leads the Bronchos offense averaging 92 yards per game rushing with 11 touchdowns. T.J. Eckert is averaging 92.2 yards per game passing with one score. Marquez Clark is averaging 141 yards per game receiving with five touchdowns. On defense Adrian Shoecraft has 55 total tackles and Levonte Douglas leads the way with 2.5 sacks.
