Folkerts Makes Panthers

Former Washburn football standout Brain Folkerts is getting another shot at his NFL dream.

The offensive lineman tweeted out on Sunday night at 7:45 pm: "I became a Carolina Panther today! Made the most of my opportunity at Rookie Mini Camp. #underdogs @WU_Football" - @BrianFolkerts

It's Folkerts 3rd NFL tryout. Last spring he was signed by the New Orleans Saints, only to be cut. Then a phone call came from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Folkerts tried out for Tampa Bay, was signed, and later cut.

Lately Brian has been playing Fullback and Center for the San Jose Sabercats, an Arena Football League team that currently sits in 2nd place in the West Division of the National Conference.

The irony of only being signed by teams in the NFC South isn't lost on Folkerts either.
