December 11, 2012-Emporia State tight end Adam Schiltz earned second-team Daktronics All-American honors as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) today. He is the 12th Hornet to earn Daktronics All-American honors since 1991.
Schiltz led all MIAA tight ends in receiving yards and total catches. He had 44 receptions for 560 yards and four touchdowns this season. The Ponca City, Okla. native had 16 catches for 215 yards and three touchdowns in his final two games.
He is the first Hornet tight end to be named All-American since Wade LeDuc in 1991.
Schiltz was one of ten MIAA players to be named All-American by Daktronics. That total matched the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) for the most on the squad.
Emporia State was 10-2 this season, including a 45-38 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville in the Kanza Bowl. The Hornets will return 11 starters next season including four players that started at least five games on the offensive line.
