MIAA Women's Basketball Rolls Into MIAA Play

Kansas City, Mo. -- League play is set to get underway for all the MIAA women's basketball teams as we turn the corner into week five.

Upcoming MIAA Previews:
#23 Central Missouri 5-0 awaiting MIAA play
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 12/5 at #17 FHSU 5:30 p.m.; 12/8 vs. #21 ESU 1:30 p.m.
#23 Central Missouri is riding a five game winning streak as they enter their first week of MIAA play against two ranked opponents. They are led by BeAnna Lewis who is averaging 18.8 points per game and Nicole Caddell with 11.2 rebounds per game. Caddell is also averaging 11.4 points and Shelby Winkelmann 17.2 points per game.

Central Oklahoma rides five game winning streak into week five
Last Week: 12/1 d. Oklahoma Baptist 73-58
Upcoming: 12/6 at #11 PSU 5:30 p.m.; 12/8 at SBU 5:30 p.m.
Central Oklahoma will begin the MIAA campaign at 5-1 and riding a five game winning streak after dropping their season opener. They are led by Alyssa Fuxa who is averaging 15.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. McKenzie Solberg is averaging 10.5 points and Jill Bryan 10.3 points per contest.

#21 Emporia State begins MIAA play

Upcoming: 12/5 at NSU 5:30 p.m.; 12/8 at #23 UCM 1:30 p.m.
The #21 Lady Hornets are 3-1 so far this season as they begin MIAA play in week five featuring a match-up with #23 Central Missouri. They are led by Laura Patrick who is averaging 15.8 points per game. Merissa Quick is averaging 12.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while Desiree Wylie leads the teams with 8.8 rebounds per contest.

#17 Fort Hays State puts perfect start on the line

Upcoming: 12/5 vs. #23 UCM 5:30 p.m.; 12/8 at MWSU 1:30 p.m.
#17 Fort Hays State will put their perfect start on the line as league play begins in week five against #23 UCM. They are led by Kate Lehman averaging 17.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Katelyn Edwards is averaging 12.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest.

Lincoln faces NSU in front of the lights
Last Week: 12/1 d. McKendree 69-60
Upcoming: 12/5 at UNK 5:30 p.m.; 12/8 vs. NSU (MIAA TV) 1:07 p.m.
Lincoln will face off with Northeastern State as part of the MIAA Television Network game of the week. They are led by Arianna Walker who is averaging 15.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Freddie Simms is averaging 14.8 points per contest this year.

Lindenwood looks to bounce back as things get started in the MIAA
Last Week: 11/28 l. to McKendree 86-71; 12/1 l. to Missouri St. Louis 67-62
Upcoming: 12/5 at NWMSU 5:30 p.m.; 12/8 vs. #11 PSU 1 p.m.
Lindenwood will look to bounce back after going 0-2 in their final tune-ups before MIAA play. They are led by Tori Kuhn who is averaging 13.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

Missouri Southern opens MIAA play on six game winning streak
Last Week: 12/1 d. Drury 62-59
Upcoming: 12/8 at TSU 1 p.m.
Missouri Southern will be riding a six game winning streak as they travel to Truman to open MIAA play. They are led by Shonte Clay who is averaging 9.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

Missouri Western enters MIAA play at 7-1
Last Week: 11/27 d. Quincy 81-67; 12/1 d. Rockhurst 67-63
Upcoming: 12/5 vs. TSU 5:30 p.m.; 12/8 vs. #17 FHSU 1:30 p.m.
Missouri Western will ride a three game winning streak and take an overall 7-1 record into MIAA play. They are led by Heather Howard who is averaging a double-double with 12.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

Nebraska-Kearney opens MIAA play at home

Upcoming: 12/5 vs. LU 5:30 p.m.; 12/8 at NWMSU 1:30 p.m.
Nebraska-Kearney will open MIAA play at home before hitting the road for NWMSU for game two in the league. They are led by Shelby Zimmerman who is averaging 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Melissa Norman is leading the team on the glass with 7.2 boards per game.

Northeastern State opens MIAA play against #20 ESU
Last Week: 11/28 l. to Drury 65-57
Upcoming: 12/5 vs. #21 ESU 5:30 p.m.; 12/8 at LU (MIAA TV) 1:07 p.m.
Northeastern State will look to bounce back from back to back road losses when they face #21 ESU at home. They are led by Tosha Tyler who is averaging 13.3 points and Taylor Lewis with 11.5 points per game on the year.

Northwest Missouri at home to open MIAA play
Last Week: 12/1 d. Rogers State 71-68
Upcoming: 12/5 vs. LWU 5:30 p.m.; 12/8 vs. UNK 1:30 p.m.
Northwest Missouri will face a duo of MIAA opponents at home to open the 2012-13 league campaign. They are led by Meridee Scott who is averaging 12.7 points and Annie Mathews with 7.3 boards per game.

#11 Pittsburg State heads into MIAA play
Last Week: 11/28 l. to William Jewell 68-66; 12/1 d. Quincy 71-65
Upcoming: 12/6 vs. UCO 5:30 p.m.; 12/8 at LWU 1 p.m.
#11 Pittsburg State will look to bounce back from their first loss as they begin MIAA play. They are led by Lizzy Jeronimus who is averaging 20.5 points per game and Lauren Brown with 6.3 boards per game.

Southwest Baptist preps for week four
Last Week: 11/27 d. Harris Stowe 85-45; 12/1 d. Illinois Springfield 43-34

SBU enters MIAA play on a four game winning streak after dropping their season opener. They are led by MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week Jacqui Zelenka who is averaging 14.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

Truman takes perfect record into MIAA play
Last Week:11/28 d. Rockhurst 67-49
Upcoming: 12/5 at MWSU 5:30 p.m.; 12/8 vs. MSSU 1 p.m.
Truman will put their perfect record on the line as MIAA play begins. They are led by Becka McHenry who is averaging 13.2 points per game and Bianca Szafarowicz with 7.6 rebounds per contest.

#8 Washburn perfect heading into MIAA play

Upcoming: 12/6 vs. SBU 5:30 p.m.
#8 Washburn takes a 6-0 start into MIAA play beginning in week five. They are led by Tiara George averaging 17.2 points and 8.8 boards per game. Laura Kinderknecht is averaging 13.8 points per game for the Lady Blues.
