TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor and Topeka Police Chief Ron Miller Wednesday released new information in Friday's double-murder and suicide case.

Police responded to a home at 712 SW Jewell just before 9:20 p.m. Friday where three people were found dead.

When police arrived on scene they entered the home and found Shawna Solis, 36, Antwan Muhammad, 40, and Howard Givens, 37, with gunshot wounds. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

Chief Miller and DA Taylor said Wednesday that Muhammad fired 7 shots total. He killed Givens, then Solis, and then himself.

"Based on forensic evidence and the manner in which wounds were on the body, it was apparent how it played out," Taylor said.

9 people were in the home at the time of the shooting, including 4 adults and 5 children. 6 of those individuals, including the children fled the home.

Ages of children range from 9 months to 16-years-old.

"The 16-year-old female helped lead the children outside the back door," said DA, Chad Taylor.

They fled to Stormant-Vail Hospital Emergency Room for safety even though no one was injured.

Solis had children with Muhammad, and he was a resident of Johnson County. District Attorney Chad Taylor said that Solis and Muhammad had an estranged relationship and Chief Miller said Wednesday that they had previous reports of domestic violence.

Chief Miller said Wednesday that information was withheld from the media initially because the department didn't want to jump to conclusions. The incident was first investigated as a triple homicide, rather than a double homicide and suicide incident.

Chief Miller told members of the media Wednesday that new details in the case of two murdered Topeka Police Officers were expected to be released in coming days.
