Washburn students traded shots Tuesday night in the debate over allowing concealed weapons on campus.
The school's student government association held a public meeting on a resolution that would support a bill allowing concealed guns in buildings that didn't have adequate security.
The student government association plans to vote on the resolution Wednesday
The Kansas House passed the bill - but the senate has yet to consider it.

No one is advocating for guns to be illegal. Trained citizens still make mistakes and banning police is a rediculous statement. The whole argument in favor of conceal carry is that armed citizens protect people, not laws. Armed citizens are not necesarily trained to deal with hostage situations or campus shootings. Furthermore, there is no information that proves conceal carry to make it safer on campus. Criminals are not lurking around campus waiting to come shoot up a classroom. Most school shootings are done by STUDENTS... not necessarily criminals before the shooting takes place. In the 143 years of Washburn Universities existence, there have not been any shootings on campus. So remind me again why we are talking about this?

the students I have seen on the news were so igonorant, it was the same old speech. If something were to happen would be the same students thanking those with these guns for saving their lives. Not just anybody can get conceal to carry, you have to get your certified for it,a car can be used as a weapon so those should be illegal as well. You will never be able to get rid of guns altogether so just feel safer that regular citizens with training will be carrying the same weapons that non trained criminals will be carrying, or lets just do this ban guns altogther including police and everything will be just peach I MEAN COME ON PEOPLE WAKE UP
