Silver Lake (WIBW) - Silver Lake took time to open the book on one of its special residents.

Karla ZBahret was the guest of honor at a celebration recognizing her 20 years with the Silver Lake Public Library. She started as a volunteer in 1990 and became a paid employee eight years ago.

Karla has cerebral palsy. But she says that hasn't been her main challenge - learning the computer was tougher!

Still, she says it's a job that's easy to love. Karla says she enjoys helping the kids with storytime, She also loves getting to meet people who love to read as much as she does. Most of all, she says she loves to help people.

Karla says being around the library has helped her, too. She says she's grown a lot. She says she's learned people can depend on her and trust her, which makes her feel good.

Karla doesn't drive, so she catches rides in the winter and takes her bicycle in the summer. She has no plans to retire anytime soon.
