Topeka (WIBW) - A local company's attempt to buy the former Payless Shoe Source Distribution Center off Highway 24 has hit a roadblock.
The Shawnee County Commission voted "no" Thursday on metal fabricating company PTMW's application for a property tax exemption.
The company say it needed the exemption to help finance the purchase of the facility.
The commission says it had to deny the application because the exemption doesn't apply to buying an existing facility, only construction of a new building.

Do they really want more jobs to come here? If they don't work with the companies we still have HERE, we'll lose more jobs. For those of us unemployed that Commission is not helping any one but themselves,we need JOBS.
