TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – The State Joint Committee on Children’s issues finished the second day of its two-day hearings on foster care and adoption Tuesday.
The committee heard testimonies from families whose children were taken and placed in foster homes on Monday.
The families spoke of abuse by law enforcement and the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) when their children were taken from their homes; and some of the families spoke of abuse afflicted on their children while in foster care.
Claudine Dombrowski, with the Kansas Family Court Reform Coalition, was at the session, alongside families whose children were taken, and said there needs to be more done for parents’ rights in keeping their children
“Somebody could make a phone call to you, or call social services, or to anybody and say, ‘Guess what? You’re not watching your kid.’ All of a sudden your kid’s gone.”
State Senator David Haley (D), said that yes there are issues and concerns to be worked out with the foster care system, but that the focus is on the well being of the children.
“Sometimes children need to be protected from their own families,” he said.
Tuesday, an audit was presented and discussed, regarding to the financial side of foster care. The committee discussed the state’s contracts in the matter, as well as abuses associated with the money foster parents receive.
“As much as we appreciate [foster parents’] services, also that they’re not overly compensated for providing service to children who are in need of care,” Sen. Haley said.

They have all heard the complaints. I sat through more than one meeting with Don Jordan. Actually part of the statistics Mr. Jordan reported 25% of children are reunited with families is not what the SRS website states as 15.9% pretty low... Mr. Jordan. They are breaking the law. The legislators have been told and Mr.Jordan has been told. When are they going to prosecute these people for abuse of these children and families??? Perhaps under the Color of Law????
CPS and the foster care system is corrupt in every city, county and state. They only care about the ASFA adoption bonus money and Title IV-E funding. They leave abused children in the homes while needlessly removing children from safe homes because they are the "marketable" children. CPS legally kidnap's and sells children on the foster/adopt market. Children are far more likely to be abused, sexually assaulted and killed in foster homes than they are their real homes. Yet CPS and social workers don't care. Social workers are nothing but sociopathic, pathological liars. The foster care system is just as bad and the family court system, that's a joke! No justice there. Just more corruption. Judges, states attorneys, and even defense attorneys make money off foster/adopt children. They should all rot in jail. I doubt you'll publish this. I just LOVE CPS censorship.
To begin with I thought this was a good idea but from what little I saw and heard once again the "authorities" watered it all down to make what CPS does look good! Sorry Sylvia we didn't get to hear much of what really is going on with the children being taken for no good reason although we really do know that it is a money issue here!!
