Consumer research group N.P.D. reports about 60% of customers plan to spend the same amount on their electronics as last year but in a different way. This year's forecast calls for buying more smaller, cheaper gadgets and leaving the larger, big-ticket technology items on the shelves.

"A lot of manufacturers are going to them because they see a trend in inexpensive brands,” Best Buy employee Michael Harris said.

And in the computer world, the trend is turning tiny. Netbooks are netting more and more attention for their price and portability and they run at a third of the price of most regular laptops.

I Stayed home and ordered online, was able to get the "doorbusters" I wanted without having to fight the crowds, Free shipping to my home. Glad that the retail stores did the online ordering thing this year. pretty soon there will be no need for anyone to stand in line for 5 hours, on second though everyone keep going and standing in line, keeps the store servers from being overloaded :)

I work at a distribution center and believe me there are tons of 37" or larger moving off the shelves everyday!!!! If we are all so broke, I don't know who can afford these big ticket items.

I was at Topeka Target at 4:30am....at that point the line was backed up to Famous Foot Wear. By 5:00am, the line was at Toys R Us. Target employees should be highly praised for keeping the line crashers back until the entire line was in the store. I retrieved my items. I only waited 15 minutes to get checked out. I don't think some customers realized that they did not need to wait in the lines that circled arong the far isles. Target at lines that went to each register...Thanks for thinking ahead - TARGET....
