One Wreck Sparks Two More On I-470
Five people were injured in three separate accidents within a few hundred feet of each other on I-470 in Topeka Friday night.

Topeka (WIBW) - The slow-down from one wreck led to two others that sent a handful of people to the hospital Friday night.
Topeka Police say the first accident happened around 6 pm on I-470, just before the I-70 interchange. Two vehicles were involved, but no one was hurt.
About a half-hour later, though, a few hundred feet east, three vehicles slowing for backed-up traffic collided. The Kansas Highway Patrol says one person was taken to the hospital with injuries from that accident.
Then, just before 7 pm, the third accident occurred. It happened just on I-470 just east of the bridge over Huntoon, just east of the first two accidents.
Topeka Police say four vehicles were involved in the final accident. Four people were taken to the hospital. No word how serious the injuries are.
Westbound 470, including the on ramp from Huntoon, were closed while crews cleared up the accidents. Traffic returned to normal around 8:30 pm.

I also agree with the other posts. This time of the year, all left turns that are not controlled by a light, should not be allowed. I have seen so many close calls and accidents because people are trying to turn left out of a parking lot, etc. If I have to go a couple of blocks out of my way to turn safely, I do.
Agree with the other comments. So many drivers act like they are the only people on the road, following just a few feet from your bumper, pass just to cut you off and turn, pull out in front of you like you were a mile down the road and fly up on stopped traffic like it was going to miraculously disappear when they reached it. Just plain idiots! One time saw a gal pull up to the stop sign looked and saw traffic coming from both directions, chose to pull out, pulled out so fast she ran her own self into a bridge, traffic from both directions slammed on their brakes to avoid hitting her. WHY! Just plain idiots!
