(WIBW) - Monday began and ended with winter weather that sparked a flurry of accidents around northeast Kansas.

Following a quiet afternoon, the return of snow Monday evening caused at least ten accidents between 4 and 9 pm, according to Topeka Police.

One accident at SW 17th and Seabrook around 6:30 pm sent one woman to the hospital. Earlier, an accident at SW 21st and McAllister sent two people to the hospital. The injuries were considered minor.

The Kansas Highway Patrol also was busy with several slideoffs and fender benders on I-70 west of Topeka between 7 and 8 pm. No serious injuries were reported.

Earlier in the day, Topeka Police report at least eight fender benders from 7 am to 3 pm Monday. No one was injured in those accidents.

The Kansas Highway Patrol couldn't provide a specific number, but did say it, too, was busy.

One more significant accident happened just after 11 pm Sunday on I-70 in Riley County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a vehicle driven by 32-year old Charles Eacock of Phoenix, AZ lost control on a patch of ice just east of the K-177 exit and spun out, hitting another car driven by 21-year old Anderson Clay of Ft. Riley.

Two other vehicles also lost control trying to avoid the scene, and hit Clay's car.

A total of seven people were in the four vehicles. Each of them was wearing a seat belt and all walked away unhurt.
