TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Elected Kansas officials are reacting to the U.S. House of Representatives passing of the Health Care Bill late Saturday night.

Congressman Todd Tiahrt (R) said, "Speaker Pelosi just delivered an early Christmas gift to President Obama tonight at a cost of $1.2 trillion to taxpayers.

Congressman Tiahrt went on to say, “Should Speaker Pelosi’s bill become law, I will fight to repeal or defund it."

Congressman Jerry Moran (R) said, “We strengthen our health care system by reducing costs. The Speaker’s bill will do nothing to reduce costs. This is not something I can support.”

Just yesterday I just talked with a man who lives in England ans is here visiting. Recently, he had symptoms of a heart attack and the ambulance EMT asked him if he was 56 or older. He asked why they needed to know. The EMT's answer - If you are 56 or older, BY LAW, we are only allowed to make you comfortable!!! That is EXACTLY what Obamacare will be if enacted. God help us if the crooks in Washington pass that 1990 page monstrosity. Read what the Wall Street Journal had to say about it.

Hey Larry--Congress pays for some of its health care, but the lion's share is from the taxpayers' wallets. And they have options that many Kansans can only dream of. I don't begrudge anyone decent health care, including members of Congress. But it is hypocritical to deny it to others simply because you weren't elected to public office.

We should all be proud of Tihart and Moran for voting against this bill. Since Obama was elected, we've seen BIG GOVERNMENT take over and control in every aspect of our lives. Forcing people to have insurance is not the American way. We are continually losing more and more of our rights. Many small businesses will be forced to close their doors and more people will be out of a job with this bill. Our health care system isn't perfect and there are ways to improve it without this 1990 page bill. How many politicians or American citizens have taken the time to read for themselves or taken the time to KNOW what's really in the bill? Supporters of the bill only know what they are being told....... and they are not being told the whole truth as to the damage this will do to our American way. Look at the burden this administration has put on our children and grandchildren with their outlandish spending. This is another way the Democrats are redistributing the wealth. Is this American?
