Riley Co. (WIBW) - Riley County authorities and the Shawnee County Coroner's Office are still working to identify two sets of human remains found in a Riley County field.
A hunter discovered the remains Sunday evening. They were partially buried in a shallow grave about a half-mile west of S. 32nd Street, northeast of Ogden.
Riley County Police Lt. Herb Crosby says the investigation is moving forward. He says foul play is a great possibility.
He says the bodies are of an adult woman and small, male child, possibly around the age of three. He says they are assuming it is a mother and child.
Crosby says more information could be released as early as Thursday, pending the identification of the remains.
The coronor also is working to determine how long the bodies were there and how the two people died.
Anyone with information should contact the KBI's tip line, 1-800-KS-CRIME.
