(WIBW) - An actor and former Presidential candidate has given his support to Kris Kobach's bid for Kansas Secretary of State.

Sen. Fred Thompson campaigned for Kobach in Kansas City Saturday and Sunday.

Koback served as policy advisor to Thompson during the 2008 Presidential campaign.

“Kris Kobach served the country with great distinction at the Department of Justice during the Bush Administration. He served my campaign equally well in 2008," Thompson said. "He will perform invaluable service to the people of Kansas as Secretary of State. Kansas can trust him to protect the integrity of elections.”

Thompson described Kobach as his most important advisor on the issue of immigration policy.

Thompson, who served in the U.S. Senate from 1994-2003, is also a well known actor, best known for his role on NBC’s hit series, Law & Order.

Thompson now spends his time giving expert political analysis as the host of the highly rated Fred Thompson Show, which he co-hosts with his wife, Jeri.
