The Topeka Fire Department was called to 1322 NW Tyler on a house fire. When they arrived they found a mattress on fire in a upstairs bedroom.
Topeka Fire put out the fire before it was able to spread from the mattress. There was smoke throughout the house because of the fire.
Investigators are looking into whether children playing with a lighter might of been the cause of the fire. The father tried to put out the fire and was taken by AMR to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
An interpreter from the Topeka Police was brought in to speak with the family.
