Topeka, KANSAS (WIBW) -- David Price failed to appear before the Kansas Supreme Court this week, leading to a warrant for his arrest, then his actual arrest. He is out on bond, and plans on filing a lawsuit against the state of Kansas for wrongful prosecution. The amount? $100 Million.
He is accused of practicing law without a license. Price helped Eldon Ray, who has been featured on 13 News.
Ray helped repair a church and was accused of working as an architect without a license. Price says he helped Ray beat that rap, but as an advocate, not an attorney.
He says there have been numerous procedural mistakes made by the state, all of which have been denied by the Attorney General's office.
Ron Keefover at the Judicial Center says Price's arrest is the first such warrant issued in recent memory. Price will have up to 20 minutes to present his side of the case on August 4. He says he plans on filing that lawsuit against the state sometime this week.
