TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ A government audit in Kansas has raised uestions about the security of passwords in state agencies' computer networks.

A new report from the Legislative Division of Post Audit says it cracked 39 percent of one unnamed agency's passwords within five minutes using software.

The auditors reviewed password policies and strengths for five agencies: the Board of Nursing, the Department of Transportation,
the state pension fund, the Office of Judicial Administration and
the state treasurer's office.

The report did not specify the results for each agency but said three of them had weak password policies. Also, two had weaknesses in the password settings on the servers controlling access to their networks.
