HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) _ Dale Collins' career as a Kansas weatherman has changed dramatically since he began 40 years ago.
Collins, now in central Kansas, recalls that he mostly took observations after looking up at the sky and watching the stars and clouds.
Forecasters drew their own maps and plotted what was coming based on visual sightings.
The 96-year-old was trained as a forecaster while he was in the Army.
But even with today's technology, Collins believes that beyond three days, it's a 50-50 guessing game.
