To an Army Guard soldier: who says "No one branch has a monopoly on sacrifice or contribution". What about Halliburton and Blackwater employees?? Dont they count? Dozens of them have been killed in the line of duty. Tell that to a Halliburton employee driving an unarmored Semitruck hauling Gasoline in a convoy next to an M1Abrams Tank. You say "No one branch has a monopoly on sacrifice or contribution" This is simply not true. Look at the KIA's The Army has suffered Thousands close to 90% Also Tell that to a blackwater employee fighting for freedom also as a force multiplier. Who you do not mention. Dozens of them have been killed in action. No Airmen from kansas though.

The Adjutant General Kansas is a soldier's general as well as an airman's general. I have personally witnessed his attention to duty and care for deployed soldiers. When he visited my unit in Iraq he did not rest for over 20 hours straight ensuring he visited with, and listened to every soldier. He walked our perimeter, stood in our guard towers, and was on the entry control point checking out what Kansas soldiers were doing. He was tireless. The energy he directs at the care of soldiers on med-hold away from Kansas is both real and significant. It is tremendous. There is not a leader in the Kansas Guard who does not know and understand that the Kansas Guard is focused on taking care of their soldiers and airmen. Moreover the idea that the Kansas Air Guard has not been in this nation’s fight is wrong. Airmen from the 190th and 184th have served in ground roles around the world to include Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. Airmen have risked same challenges that many soldiers do with potential incoming artillery and IED attacks, they done their share of the work. Tell an airman deployed with an Agribusiness Development Team in Afghanistan as they work with Afghani farmers in the field they are not in the fight and you would be wrong. Tell an airman standing security in Iraq and you would be wrong. Tell an airman air refueling a bomber so it can support troops in contact and you would be wrong. Right now around the world, Guardsmen, Air Guard & Army Guard are deployed serving their nation and their state. No one branch has a monopoly on sacrifice or contribution. It is a Joint world and as a soldier I am more than ok with my Adjutant General.

It's to bad that these Brave wounded Army soldiers. Will have to recieve their award from a Air Force General Who never saw any combat himself! We need a new Army AG who has seen the Elephant! Not a air force desk jockey who is only a politicle appointment! The Army has been doing all the fighting and they are the ones getting killed. Not the 190th Air National Guard. The 190th guys and gals might sprain their ankle while running on the beach, on one of their short TDY vacation trips to Hawaii though!
