EMMETT, Kan. (AP) _ Investigators say a boy playing with fireworks sparked a fire that destroyed three Pottawatomie County buildings.
The fire happened Friday afternoon in Emmett and required fire crews from Saint Marys, Onaga, Emmett and Havensville to help put out.
The State Fire Marshal's Office says a 13-year-old boy was trying to light a firework, but instead lit flammable liquids nearby. The fire spread quickly and burned through a residential building, a warehouse and a bar.
Chris Trudo with Pottawatomie County Emergency Management says no one was injured in the fire, although a family living in the residential building lost some of their pets and their home. The bar also was a total loss.
Latest Comments
Head line does not reflect what is an article. Little boy started the fire playing with lighter. What it has to do with fireworks? They were just happened to be there.
Read article three times, do not know why fireworks are blamed for causing the fire. Seems that child playing with lighter or matches near flammable liquids caused the fire.
While attention grabbing, this headline is hardly accurate. I believe the investigator found that a child playing with a lighter or matches started the fire, not fireworks.
