Two Boaters Found Dead in Coffey County Reservoir
Coffey County Sheriff's found two men who were boating near the John Redmond Reservoir, dead in the water about 7p.m. Thursday. They are Eugene Lang, 83, of Leroy; and Dean Estle, 66, of Burlington.

BURLINGTON, Kan. - Coffey County Sheriff's found two men dead near the John Redmond Reservoir Thursday evening.

Earlier in the night, at approximately 6:28 p.m., the Coffey County Sheriff's Office received a report of two men missing; Eugene Lang, 83, of Leroy; and Dean Estle, 66, of Burlington.

The people who reported the men missing advised the two men had gone boating in a flooded area near the reservoir. They had not heard from the two for some time and went looking for them.

Family members found the boat unoccupied in the water. The boat the men were in was a small fiberglass paddle boat. They then contacted the Coffey County Sheriff's Office.

Water Rescue personnel from Coffey County Fire District #1 and the Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene. Water Rescue personnel began a water search for the two men. At approximately 7:05 p.m. the two men were located in approximately seven-foot deep waters near the shore.
