Clay County is seeing support for a smoking ban in businesses.

The Clay Center Dispatch reports a citizen petition is being circulated to put the issue to a public vote and has "quite a few" signatures.

However, the Clay County clerk says another election isn't scheduled until a year from August, a special election would be needed to put it to a vote any earlier.
