PRATT, Kan. (AP) _ A rural Pratt County man has died from injuries suffered when his horse-drawn wagon overturned just a few
hundred yards from his home.

Pratt County Undersheriff Rick Shriver said Friday that 69-year-old Ralph Krug died in surgery Thursday. Shriver said a couple had hired Krug and his wagon as part of their upcoming wedding and that Krug and his wife, Barbara, were testing it Wednesday when the wheel came off.

Shriver said the breaking wheel spooked the horses, forcing the eight-foot wagon off the road, into a ditch and up an incline, then back onto the road where it overturned.

Krug suffered a chest injury that punctured his lung in the mishap. Barbara Krug suffered a sprained ankle.
