LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ A former Lawrence police officer is co-author of a book about President John F. Kennedy's assassination.

Brian Edwards says he never believed gunman Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole person responsible for the killing. The book, ``Beyond the Fence Line,'' tells the story of one of the eyewitnesses.

The publication coincides with the anniversary of Kennedy's assassination. It happened 45 years ago on Nov. 22 in Dallas.

Edwards wrote the book with Marysville teacher Casey J. Quinlan. It focuses on the accounts of eyewitness Ed Hoffman, who can't hear or speak.

Hoffman's story has been largely ignored for years because of his difficulty communicating. But his experience is explained in-depth in the 233-page book.
