Governor Kathleen Sebelius has made several appointments and one reappointment to the Kansas Propane Education and Research Council.

“Propane can be dangerous if it’s not transported and used safely,” Sebelius said. “I appreciate the efforts of those who serve on this council to ensure safe propane education and training.”

Larry Black, Meriden, has more than 35 years of experience in the propane industry as an employee of the Farmers Cooperative Association and Capital City Oil. Black has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the council.

Randy Dugan, El Dorado, is a propane division manager for the Regional Energy Group. He has more than 30 years of experience in the propane industry, including positions as a location manager with Crossroads Coop and a propane and location manager with Farmers Grain Coop. Dugan has been appointed to serve the remainder of an unexpired term ending in 2010.

Bradley Thompson, Hutchinson, graduated from Cloud Community College and has completed the Hutchinson Reno County Leadership Program. He has more than 30 years of experience in the propane industry, having managed two propane delivery companies and is an active member of the Propane Marketers Association. Thompson has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the council.

Governor Sebelius has also reappointed Joyce French, Emporia, to serve a three-year term on the council.

The Kansas Propane Education and Research Council is designed to enhance propane safety, education and training for propane consumers and employees; to improve existing propane technology; to increase the efficiency of propane; and develop other programs to educate the public about the safety, environmental aspects, and use of propane.
