Topeka, KS (WIBW) City manager Norton Bonaparte will not be going to Wichita for a city manager position there.

Wichita city council members went into executive session Friday for over two hours in an effort to make their decision, no decision was made. They met again at 2 p.m. Saturday for over an hour and narrowed their choice from five to three; Bonaparte was cut from the running as well as Floyd Johnson.

The council has asked for a consultant to be brought in to help them with their decision. They have chose Robert Layton, Bill Buchanan and George Noe as their finalists.

On Wednesday Bonaparte went to Wichita for an interview. He was back in Topeka Friday night at city hall, he was not available for comment.

A final decision is now not expected until at least sometime late next week.

I don't see the point in a city manager at all. He's not very friendly anyway...i spoke to him at a local eating establishment and he looked at me and kept walking. RUDE!

Darn! I was hoping this was going to be our ticket out of this mess he and the city council have created.

oh little, Nor Tan coming back to Topeka, what does Nortan do? Honestly, what does city manager mean?? Does it mean a $100,000 paycheck with little commitment? Or is there some use for the job??

Too bad for Topeka but it would appear Wichita actually checks on city manager's track record before hiring, unlike Topeka city council members that brought him here. Not to worry though cuz the way Bonaparte is ruining the city of Topeka day by day can't last much longer - there aren't too many people that like him along with his parrot Giles and I'm sure they're both looking to further their resumes elsewhere. It is sad they've done so much damage to the city of Topeka though and have gotten away with it so far but that won't last forever.
