It's one of the most hotly-contested races on the November ballot in Kansas - and Republican Lynn Jenkins and Democrat Nancy Boyda are going non-stop this week, asking for votes for the state's 2nd District Congressional seat.
Appearances on 13 News at 4 with Ralph Hipp made both calendars. State Treasurer Jenkins was there Tuesday and the incumbent Congresswoman Boyda appeared Wednesday. Each delivered the messages they want voters to remember election day.
"We have tax loopholes that you could drive a Mac truck through," Boyda said. "We need to close those loopholes. They turn out to be literally hundreds of billions of dollars. We can reinvest that money, first of all, in paying off our debt; in health care instead of health insurance companies; in the renewable fuels that we need in this country; investing in our kids' college education."
"I think folks need to remember what the major issues of this campaign cycle have been and they're economic issues - taxes, spending, balancing the budget," Jenkins said. "I believe folks have sent a clear message to me that if ever there was a time to send a CPA to Washington, that time is now. We need somebody to go back there and return some common sense to the fiscal issues."

Lynn needs to stay in Holton.
I'm a registered republican, but I always vote for whom I think will do the best job. To vote strictly on party lines, is stupid and ignorant. I'm probably going to vote for Boyda, because she's the lesser of two evils. Jenkins is a definate bottom feeder. Thinks her cutsey smile will win over voters. Note me, I know she can be a real back stabber.
I am voting for Nancy Boyda not becacuse of which party she belongs to but as a person and what she believes in. We sure know who Ralph likes though don't we?
