Governor Kathleen Sebelius is calling on all eligible Kansans to register to vote if they are not already registered, and to cast a ballot in this year’s historic elections.

“Voters will have lots of important decisions to make in this election. The choices include every member of the Kansas Legislature, the U.S. Congress, one of our two U.S. Senators, members of the Kansas Board of Education, important local officials and the President of the United States. It is an election not to be missed.

“Kansans have an incredible opportunity to make their voices heard, leave their mark on history and participate in our democracy. And our rules make participation in the process very easy.

“If you aren’t registered to vote, or have moved and not re-registered, there is still time. If you are registered and want to vote from home, you can request an advance ballot from now until October 31st.

“If you want to stop by your County Election Office you can early vote in person starting Wednesday, October 15th. Or you can vote the old-fashioned way by showing up at your polling place on Tuesday, November 4th. With so many options and opportunities there is absolutely no reason for Kansans to miss this election,” Sebelius said.

Wednesday, October 15

First day registered voters can advance vote in person at County Election Offices or designated satellite offices.

Monday, October 20th

Last day Kansans can register to vote for the 2008 Election.

Friday, October 31st

Last day voters can apply for advance voting ballots to be mailed to them.

Tuesday, November 4th - Election Day

Polls are open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm in most counties.

Advanced ballots must be received before the close of polls.
