Shawnee County may have a problem this winter. So today the county commission met to discuss proposals regarding keeping the roads clear of ice.

They voted on a proposal to reject a bid for deicing salt and to authorize an emergency purchase of salt.

The salt would come from Independent Salt Company here in Kansas.

They also discussed proposals to award a bid for sand and liquid calcium chloride, both for snow and ice control.

The commission passed the measures to buy the supplies at today's meeting.
