LONG ISLAND, Kan. (AP) _ A teenager is dead after her car crossed the center line of a northwest Kansas highway and crashed head-on into a school bus carrying 17 children.

The Highway Patrol said 18-year-old Amanda Turman of Norton died after the crash Monday morning on U.S. 383 in Phillips County, west of the town of Long Island. Troopers said a 17-year-old girl on the bus was shaken up and turned over to her parents to seek medical help.

No other children were hurt, and the bus driver and another adult were taken to a hospital with possible injuries. The children ranged in age from 17 to 4 years old.
