A single agency now covers all food safety and lodging inspections in Kansas.

The Kansas Department of Agriculture has taken full control of the inspections. Previously the Department of Health and Environment shared the responsibility.

Many employees transferring from KDHE will be allowed to work from home. They were also given tablet computers to eliminate the need for paper records. Eight counties were given software to standardize the recording safety inspection data. The counties conduct inspections under contracts with the agriculture department.
