Overland Park-based Brooke Capital Corporation's pending sale of a Topeka-based life insurance company has been put on hold. First American Life, which is a Brooke Corporation subsidiary, was set to be sold to First Trinity Financial Corporation, based out of Tulsa.

But spokesman Bob Hanson says regulators are postponing its approval in order to seek more information from former Jackson County prosecutor Albert Riederer. The Kansas Insurance Department is monitoring legal issues involving Brooke Corporation and its insurance related affiliates.
