A new living facility for elderly residents may soon be available in the Topeka area.

Debra Durall wants to build a home-plus medical care facility near her home north of Topeka. She says the facility should blend in with other houses in the area - except it houses eight people.

The Shawnee County Commission today approved a conditional use permit to allow the facility.

Two licensed aids overseen by a registered nurse will care for the residents.

Durall now needs to work on a business plan and getting a loan to fund the facility.
