NEW ORLEANS (AP) _ Kansas National Guard units handed out ice and food to residents in New Orleans yesterday.

Residents looked tired but were in good spirits. Hundreds of thousands were still without power, but they appreciated the supplies. Members of the Kansas guard have been in Louisiana since Tuesday.

Residents were also concerned about a possible threat from Hurricane Ike. Projections show New Orleans in the line of fire in the coming days.

Mayor Ray Nagin toured a distribution site and said more residents are getting their power back by the hour.
